About Andrea

I began painting and printmaking as part of my undergraduate degree at San Diego State University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts and Art History.
I next completed a sales and marketing certificate through the UCSD school of extended studies while working in the scientific and academic publishing industry.

After completing my Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling, I began making my own art on a regular basis and used it to explore perception, identity and immersion in the patterns and imagery of everyday life.

Most work is semi-abstract, representational or figurative in either oil or acrylic and meant to connect the viewer with a memory or instill a moment of curiosity towards the subject.
Paintings and embroidered work replace non-essential elements with color and threads while my mixed media art layers color and images to create new compositions.

Linoleum woodblock prints and mono prints emphasize intensity and combine carved markings and ink to create a simple but powerful design that reflects only the light and dark elements of a subject.
